Glades Squirt Team Wins Tier I Print

Congratulations to the Glades Squirt Majors for becoming the first Glades team to win a Tier I Regional tournament this past weekend in Smithfield, Rhode Island. 

The Glades became the first Squirt team, and only the third Vermont hockey team in state history to capture a Tier I Regional Championship.

Essex Rotary/Key Bank Boys Classic Print

The Essex Rotary/Key Bank All Star Classic will be held this Saturday at the Essex Junction Skating Facility, with many of the state's best high school senior boys hockey players set to show off their skills.  Rosters were selected based on the nominations from the players' coaches and the rankings of other coaches in their division. The game will be used to help pick the teams for the Make-A-Wish Game against New Hampshire this summer.

There is new scientific evidence, based on ten years of research, which supports that being on a sports team is protective against most of the major child and adolescent psychopathologies, substance use and abuse and children’s perception of happiness.  Jim Hudziak, MD director of the Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families, and his colleagues in the Netherlands have done extensive research on the benefits of sports participation at a genetic level.
