The VSAHA is an affiliate member of the USA Hockey. USA Hockey is the national governing body for the sport of amateur ice hockey. USA Hockey is the duly authorized representative of the IIHF. USA Hockey is divided into 11 geographical districts.

The New England Hockey District (New England Yankee Hockey Conference) is made up of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, & Vermont.
